June 12, 2016 - Class Visits at School

Today was an "open school" at Seishin, and we went to five different classes.

The first was with Mark, an English teacher, in the GEC, and the students talked about various subjects such as Japanese sweets, monsters and entertainment, and traditions and customs.

Afterwards, we went to Yamada-sensei's chemistry class in which the students learned about different colors of lights and what colors they could make (ie. magenta, yellow, cyan, white, black). There were lots of parents watching the lesson outside the room.

We chilled in the GEC during a free period before going to the ECR1 and playing games (such as Roll For It and Biblios) with Brian's students. It was a lot of fun, and I was surprisingly lucky in playing a game that required some luck!!

After lunch, we came back to Brian's room and helped some students with their essays about whether or not TVs and newspapers would survive in the future.

(These two students had a lot of good ideas about whether or not newspapers or TVs would still be used many years from now!)

Finally, we had one more class back in the GEC with Mark's students who were discussing garbage disposal in Japan for a debate that they would have in two weeks. We talked with them about the differences of how trash was taken care of in America as well.

Overall, I thought it was a nice day--to be able to relax a bit instead of having to walk a lot, but I'm still excited to go sight-seeing in Japan later!
